12 Things you can do in 2010 to Grow Your Business Idea #9 - Make it easy to convert prospects into clients People are more cautious than ever about where they spend their money. Think of ways you can make it easy for them to do business with you. Every business model will have a different method or offer that works better than others, but here are 9 ideas for you to choose from. When prospects who have never done business with your company in the past are offered specials to make them more comfortable about doing business with you, they will be more inclined to say yes to you instead of to your competition. 1) Offer a free trial - whether it's a sample-sized product or a trial period of your services 2) No charge for shipping on a first order 3) Money back guarantees - if a prospect knows they will be satisfied or they will receive some or all of their money back, it can be a very powerful incentive. It eliminates their perception of risk. 4) Introductory offers - This works very well for services. Instead of providing your 'full suite' or 'platinum level package' of services, allow new clients to try a sampling or 'silver level package' before committing to more 5) Free additions - offer additional bonuses for new (or even repeat) clients. These can be books, CDs, DVDs, discounts for future purchases, etc. 6) Payment plans - Offer installment payments to make it easier for people to commit to large budget items or services 7) Deadlines - Offer a compelling reason to purchase by a certain date. 8) Combine forces with a partner and offer a special deal to try both 9) Ask for the business! - This is sometimes the most difficult for sales people to accomplish but it works! If you ask a qualified prospect to commit after you've established that your product or service will solve their problems, they will often say yes. If you don't ask, it's easier for them to be non-committal for a long time. Or at least until one of your competitors asks for their business.
