A marketing tool that is free AND effective??It's not too good to be true!
If you’re looking for a marketing tool that is highly effective while costing nothing more than a small amount of your time and effort, would you be interested in learning more?
Start by thinking about what your clients say about you. Hopefully, they love the work you do and tell others about it. But other than asking for referrals from your clients, what if you could turn their extreme satisfaction with your company into a marketing tool for all of your prospects to see? I’m talking about testimonial letters.
Testimonial letters from your clients and former clients can be used to promote your expertise in so many ways including:
Part of the reason so few people use testimonial letters is because they are hesitant to ask their clients to write one for them. If that’s the case with you and your clients, here’s an idea for you….
YOU write your client’s testimonial letter and email it to them so they can edit it however they want to and print it on their letterhead. Your clients love it because the only thing they need to do is print the letter and sign it (provided you wrote an accurate description of the work you did for them). It’s also a nice way to ‘remind’ them of all the great work you did by including some specific results or benefits you delivered.
If you don’t want to do this yourself, you can always hire a writer to interview your clients and write the letters on their behalf. This is part of the services TSG provides for our clients.
I heard another great idea in a meeting last month that can be used in conjunction or in lieu of testimonial letters. When you are signing on a new client, ask them if it’s okay to include their contact information in your referral book. Let them know that everyone you do business with is included in the book and that when prospects request referrals prior to signing a contract, you just give them the book and allow them to contact whoever they want to. This isn’t going to work for every business model, of course, but it certainly adds a layer of accountability for those who employ it!
